This study investigates foreign language anxiety and shyness in students and its impact on their learning. It aims to identify the causes of these issues and how they affect students’ participation in classroom activities and language acquisition. Additionally, it offers practical strategies for teachers to help students overcome anxiety and shyness in the EFL classroom. Data was collected through questionnaires from first-year secondary school students and interviews with their teachers at the Five Brothers Hamidet’ secondary school in Mecheria, Naama. Findings reveal that many learners experience anxiety due to factors such as fear of evaluation and lack of motivation, negatively affecting their performance. The study suggests various strategies for teachers to support students in reducing anxiety and shyness, emphasizing the importance of addressing these issues for a more positive language learning experience.
