Abstract
In the realm of academia, the pervasive influence of anxiety on students’ verbal expression
is a significant area of concern. Actually, the current research deals with the issue of anxiety
and its impact on learners' speaking. The primary aim of this research is to dig into the
adverse impact that impeds students’ speaking abilities. Also, how its impact students’
willingness to engage in class discussions and deliver presentations. By exploring the
multifaceted aspects contributing to this issue. Also, the researchers aim to uncover effective
interactions that teachers use to reduce anxiety levels and enable students to communicate
confidently in educational settings. To do so, the present research is a case study that uses
two main tools to gather data: a questionnaire for students of first-year LMD and interviews
with teachers of oral expression at Salhi Ahmed University Center of Naama. Both
quantitative and qualitative analyses were used to analyze the data gathered during the
academic year 2023/2024. The results obtained from the questionnaire and the interviews
revealed that the majority of foreign language learners tend to be anxious
when they are asked or when they try to speak, some recommendations are suggested for
both teachers and students to decrease anxiety in the classroom.
