Abstract
Vocabulary teaching is a crucial and essential part of any language instruction. A
large and rich vocabulary is one of the most valuable tools we can provide
students, benefiting not only their education but their lives in general. However,
many students struggle to understand the connections between different parts of a
text and to speak and communicate effectively in English. This research
investigates the strategies EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers employ
to enhance students' vocabulary knowledge. Additionally, it aims to identify the
vocabulary learning strategies EFL students use to improve their linguistic
competence. The study employs a quantitative approach through interviews and
questionnaires, targeting teachers and students in the Department of Foreign
Languages at Ahmed SALHI University Center of Naama. A random sample of
thirty-six students completed the questionnaire, and eight teachers participated in
the interviews. The findings indicate that EFL teachers extensively use various
vocabulary teaching strategies, while EFL students moderately use vocabulary
learning strategies.
